ERFO offers a platform where you go to and talk about SRF, its possibilities and its importance.

ERFO focusses on the total process to produce SRF, from getting more
supply of waste as a feedstock to what to do with SRF as a product. We try to turn waste into a new resource/fuel, ERFO is here to promote SRF as a concept.

ERFO is there for producers and users and the focus is on sustainable development, high quality standards and European/international standardization. We believe that recovered fuels and SRF will be an important fuel for the future. It is a substitute for fossil fuels such as coal, pet-coke and natural gas. As part of recovered fuels is biogenic of nature, they also contributes to the European goals for renewable energy.

ERFO is the binding party between different organizations and different interests. To governments and other stakeholders ERFO emphasises and explains the importance of SRF. Towards members and customers it is mainly about informing, facilitating, advising, supporting and connecting.

OUR PROMISE

  • Explaining the importance of sorting of waste and production of SRF. The concept of SRF is future proof. It coincides with environmental policies.

  • Helping the members with SRF issues. How? By informing, facilitating, advising, supporting, connecting and representing our members.

  • We are working on added value of SRF for customers. This is reflected by the sustainability of SRF, it’s flexible use and it’s standardised quality.

THE MISSING LINK

SRF is the missing link in the Circular Economy as it enables to make the highest possible use of waste that can’t be recycled mechanically.

We enhance the concept of SRF by:

  • Communicating to all stakeholders
  • Contributing to the development of appropriate conditions, such as policies and legislation
  • Contributing to the development of standards
  • Offering a platform for all parties interested in the concept of SRF
  • Representing our members on all levels

Promise to our customers

  • ERFO is contributing to and is essential for getting targets in Europe related with low-carbon and circular economy.
  • SRF is a standardized fuel which can replace fossil fuel, supports less CO2 emission and provides flexible usage of the fuel.

ADDED VALUE IN 4 PERSPECTIVES

  1. Waste to energy/resourcing

It offers better efficiency (more energy) and this energy can be generated at the place where heat is required (for instance in cement kilns, or in industry in a Combined Heat and Power installation). When SRF is co-processed in cement kilns, it contributes also to recycling of mineral materials.

  1. Waste sorting

The overall yield of sorting increases. More material is recovered and used beneficially. For a sorting operator it offers an alternative as high calorific residue needs not per se go to landfill or incineration.

  1. Product

Reliable and good (SRF/fuel) qualities. Proven substitute for fossil fuels. Proven added value in combustion processes based on biomass. Reduction of CO2 emissions.

  1. Authorization

As the characteristics of SRF are determined according to European and global standards, uncertainties concerning emissions are reduced. The concept of SRF offers the possibility of better acceptance, more trust and hence easier permit procedures.
